Who is Lauren E. Wirtis?

Ms. Wirtis has several years of professional experience in the field of urban and regional planning in both the private and public sectors across the Pacific Northwest. She has experience with environmental permitting, municipal code, and regulatory compliance. Through her involvement in a variety of environmental land use projects, Ms. Wirtis has gained experience preparing applications for the successful acquisition of relevant permits and approvals, including State Environmental Policy Act checklists, Joint Aquatic Resource Permit Applications in Washington and Joint Permit Applications in Oregon, land use compatibility statements, and site development permits. Ms. Wirtis’s experience working in both the public and private sectors provides her with the perspective necessary to quickly adapt her approach to meet the needs, expectations, and resources of her clients.

Ms. Wirtis uses her knowledge of environmental cleanup and the regulatory framework to provide timely assistance with site remediation and redevelopment. She sees her work in brownfield redevelopment as a key component of economic and community development plans. In addition to assisting with site planning and entitlements, Ms. Wirtis supports MFA’s environmental scientists in conducting site assessments and preparing due diligence reports through the research of historical records, land use permits, and regulatory compliance measures. Ms. Wirtis uses her comprehensive understanding of current sustainability practices and policies to build solutions that are environmentally sound, programmatically feasible, and resource efficient.
