I was working as a field data technician in my early 20s when I first got hooked on GIS. I was tromping around small streams, armpit deep in water, collecting data about the health of individual streams. When I was able to see how the data I collected could tell a bigger story about the health of a watershed when combined with broader data about the region and mapped in GIS, I knew I wanted to keep learning about this amazing discipline.

Who is Jenny Axelrod?

Jenny loves working with clients to develop and apply appropriate GIS and analytical resources to make more informed decisions, explore and understand patterns across landscapes, and communicate those patterns visually. She is continually inspired by the diverse range of uses for GIS, and it’s that inspiration that drives her to do great work for her clients. Away from MFA, she enjoys gardening, snowboarding in the mountains, spending time with her friends and husband, and laughing at their 90-lb lab—who thinks he’s a lap dog.
