Communication and Government Relations

Client: Washington State Department of Transportation, Toll Division

Location: Seattle, Washington

The WSDOT Toll Division plays a vital role in the community and regional economy by creating toll facilities that fund regional transportation improvements. To help guide facility and division needs, WSDOT hired MFA to provide ongoing communication support and government relations leadership.

For the launch and operation of the I-405 express toll lanes, MFA supports the WSDOT Toll Division team with the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications, stakeholder engagement, and government relations strategy. MFA serves as an extension of the Toll Division team and works directly with the WSDOT secretary and assistant secretary to support ongoing division initiatives and coordination with partner agencies; the Office of Financial Management; and the Office of the Governor to ensure that efforts are consistent with statewide priorities and incorporate ongoing legislative and statutory requirements. MFA serves as liaison with the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program, facilitating communications with local partner agencies and other stakeholder groups as WSDOT prepares for the opening of the SR 99 tunnel. MFA also assists the division with budget and business planning efforts.
