Solid Waste

Before trash dumps were known as landfills, MFA staff were working on solid waste projects. Our experience has paralleled the solid waste industry’s growth and development.

For many years a large focus of the solid waste industry was permitting, lining, and capping of disposal facilities. Today, the industry also requires experience in recycling and composting. MFA can provide a wide variety of solid waste engineering services. Solid waste engineering includes long-term management forecasting and municipal planning; transfer station design; landfill cell design for expansion and closure; landfill gas, stormwater, and leachate collection and treatment design and operation monitoring; and composting facility layout and operations development.
